  17. New Canaan, Connecticut--October 15, 1990--Nutmeg Systems has announced
  18. immediate availability of a PDS (Processor Direct Slot) adapter card for the
  19. Macintosh IIsi.  It allows most cards designed for the Macintosh SE/30 to work
  20. in the PDS slot of the IIsi.  The adapter card carries a suggested retail price
  21. of $149 and corrects the most common compatibility problem between SE/30 cards
  22. and the PDS on the IIsi.

  24. • Keeping Up with 20-MHz
  25. “On SE/30s, the PDS slot effectively provides a system clock (16-MHz) on two
  26. pins.  The IIsi’s slot offers a system clock (20-MHz) on only one pin,” said
  27. James C. Ackerly, COO of Nutmeg Systems.  “Our adapter provides a 20-MHz system
  28. clock on the appropriate pin, assuring compatibility for boards whose designers
  29. made the unfortunate choice to take the signal from the wrong pin on SE/30s.”

  32. Nutmeg’s IIsi PDS Adapter card is available immediately for $149, substantially
  33. less than the cost of Apple’s adapter when it ships later this year.  “Unlike
  34. Apple’s adapter, Nutmeg’s card does not include a floating-point chip for two
  35. reasons,” said Ackerly.  “First, we’re convinced that many users don’t want a
  36. floating-point chip.  Second, our strategy is to provide products that we feel
  37. Apple should make, but doesn’t.  We offer users an immediate, and
  38. cost-effective solution.”

  42. or Nutmeg’s national accounts program.
